Zac Efron Explains Why He Wore Sunglasses during Indoor Promotion for Upcoming Film “The Iron Claw”

Zac opens up about supporting his Iron Claw co-stars

I caught up with Zac Efron recently while he was making the rounds to promote his new movie Iron Claw. Though he looked a little under the weather, sporting sunglasses for an “eye infection”, Zac was in good spirits.

He gushed about the experience of working with his young co-stars on the film, which focuses on 1980s wrestling. “Those guys are so talented. I could tell they were a little intimidated about playing professional wrestlers though.”

Zac shared that from day one on set, he felt called to encourage and cheerlead for Jeremy, Harris, and Stanley. “We were all pretty vulnerable being out there in front of audiences in just our underwear!” he laughed.

The physical training was brutal, but Zac said it really paid off. More than that though, he appreciated getting to know the other guys and witnessing their commitment. “It felt natural for me to try and boost their confidence when I could.”

His co-stars only had nice things to say about Zac in return, calling him a true champion and cheerleader. You could see how much the cast bonded making this film about iconic wrestling stars of the era. Even with an eye issue, Zac was enthusiastic about telling people to check it out. Iron Claw seems poised to be a hit, in large part thanks to Zac Efron’s leadership both in and out of the ring.
